new account setup

The first step towards working with MTI and licensing a show is to create an account with MTI. This may take a few days, so if you’re even thinking that you might like to order perusal scripts in the future, MTI advises you to go ahead and create an account – it won’t take up much of your time, and will make your future contacts with us much easier!

To open an MTI customer account you must submit a written request on your organization’s official business letterhead.  The submitted business letterhead request can either be faxed or mailed. All pertinent contact information for your organization, and for any person(s) who have the authority to be listed as contacts for your organization, MUST be stated on the official business letterhead.

The information MTI needs is as follows:

Contact Information for Organization

  • Name
  • Type of organization (school, religious group, community, etc)
  • Mailing address
  • Shipping address
  • Phone number
  • Fax number
  • Website address

Performance Venue Information

  • Performance Venue Name
  • Performance Venue Address
  • Performance Venue Phone Number
  • Theater/performance website address or ticketing website

Personal Contact Information

  • Your name
  • Your title
  • Home/Contact address
  • Email address
  • Phone number

You must also type a statement saying something to the effect of: “The _________ organization is requesting to open a new account with MTI.” This will let MTI know specifically what the business letterhead correspondence from your organization is pertaining to.

Once this information has been submitted on a sheet of your organization‘s official business letterhead, MTI can process subsequent license applications and/or perusal requests.

If you would like to request a license or perusal at the same time your account is created, please also include that information as well in your account setup letter!

Why do I have to sign up as a part of a group?
MTI does not work with individuals per se like most other companies.  MTI only works with producing organizations such as schools, colleges, and community theaters. However, MTI works with individuals under the umbrella of those producing organizations. It is our arrangement with the authors that since our materials are not published, we will only provide materials to producing organizations looking to do the show.

For example, if you are a member of a community theater MTI would need to be “officially” notified (on the official business letterhead of the organization) that you should have access to the community theater account and can order materials within that community theater’s account as MTI sends invoices to the accounts payable of a producing organization.  Once MTI is notified officially regarding your status with the organization, then MTI will add you to the organization’s account and process any license applications and/or perusal requests you may submit in the future!

MTI strives to make sure that only those who should have access to an account are the only persons who do have access to the account.  This is for the security and protection of an organization’s account to protect it from misuse.

If you are a member of a producing organization who has worked with MTI in the past then have the head of the organization fax MTI (212-397-4684) a letter on the official business letterhead of the organization notifying MTI that you should be added to their MTI account.
