Seven Brides for Seven Brothers - A Wholesome, Family-Friendly Musical to Showcase Your Dancers!

Are you looking for a traditional musical with lots of opportunities for fabulous choreography?   Then look no further than SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS…

SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS is a lively Dance show adapted from the iconic and innovative MGM film.  Wholesome, family-friendly and now available in a new version (updated in 2007 from the incarnation seen on Broadway in 1982), the Tony Award Nominated SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS has a book by Lawrence Kasha and David Landay, lyrics by Johnny Mercer and music by Gene de Paul with new songs by Academy Award-winning songwriters, Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn.

A romantic comedy with family values and a twist, Millie is a young bride living in the 1850s Oregon wilderness whose plan to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law to ensure the success of her own marriage backfires when the brothers kidnap six women from a neighboring town to be their brides. Bursting with the rambunctious energy of the original film, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS is all boisterous fun and romance that hearkens back to the glory days of the movie musical.

A Choreographer’s Dream

With dance telling such important, intimate parts of the story, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS is a perfect show for college and universities with strong dance programs or a talented pool of dancers to draw from.  The show’s large cast size and many ensemble roles give plenty of showcase opportunities for actors playing Adam’s brothers and their future brides.

Additionally, the importance of dance to character and story in SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS makes the show a gift to choreographers.  The challenge of creating exuberant production numbers that delight audiences while providing character insight is one any choreographer would jump at.

A favorite in the MTI catalogue for over 25 years, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS was revised by the authors for a 2007 co-production between Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, TX, North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, MA, Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ., and Theatre of the Stars in Atlanta, GA.

It is a musical romance that lights up the stage.  It Sings and Dances and Dances and Dances!
