KIDS Collection Version
There's trouble in River City when a fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian. (30 MINUTE VERSION FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS)
Master showman Harold Hill is in town, and he’s got “seventy-six
trombones” in tow. Can upright, uptight Marian, the town librarian,
resist his powerful allure? Based on the timeless Broadway classic, THE MUSIC MAN KIDS
adapts this masterful musical for young performers. The result is
family entertainment at its best – a bold, brassy show that will have
the whole town atwitter!
The story follows fast-talking traveling
salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into
buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize.
The catch? He doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to
skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, whose
belief in Harold’s powers just might help him succeed in the end in
spite of himself.
Perfect for community groups, summer camps, and
schools, the cast features a feisty ingénue part and a leading
role for a charismatic actor, as well as over twenty roles for kids of
every level. THE MUSIC MAN KIDS is the perfect vehicle for your young cast, a toe-tapping crowd-pleaser!

The part of Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, was originally written for Phil Silvers. Both he and Milton Berle turned down the role, leaving Zero Mostel, to create one of the most legendary characters in musical comedy.
