Staff Picks for June

Receptionist Mary Heatwole picks her favorite shows from the MTI Catalog:

"I don’t go to a show or listen to a soundtrack wanting the same type of fulfillment each time. What I love about the shows we have to offer is that they all tell vivid stories in different ways. I love musicals with a dark sense of humor like Assassins, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Sweeney Todd. And yet, sometimes I want to be enthralled by the sweeping score of a classic like West Side Story. Sometimes I want to hear an intimate, personal love story told through a rock musical like Murder Ballad. Sometimes I want to hear a story that is often not told, like in Pacific Overtures. Other times, I want to hear joyful Broadway standards from Singing in the Rain. Similarly, more recent shows like 9 to 5, Young Frankenstein, and a Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder capture that timeless, fun feeling of a good old fashioned Broadway show. MTI has something for everyone."
