Hello! The theater I work at is planning to do Frozen jr. soon, but there’s a lot of classic theater magic that goes into it. One thing we’re having trouble figuring out is Elsa’s quick change during Let it Go. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do it? Either how they saw it or are planning to do it? Thank you!

Hi Grace,

We're so thrilled you're planning on making Frozen JR. a part of your season! While Elsa does perform an onstage quick change in the Broadway production, please note that it is not scripted – Elsa does not need to change costumes at all for your production to be successful.

That being said, there are a myriad of ways you can incorporate a costume change, if you want to include one. Without going into too much detail (I'll let others chime in if they have specific ideas), a simple YouTube search will turn up two amazing performances of Frozen JR. from both Junior Theater Festivals (JTF Atlanta and JTF West, in Sacramento). Both groups debuting the show in the New Works Showcase incorporated a costume change during "Let it Go."

Keep in mind, though, that the true magic will be the performances that your cast creates. Best wishes!

Matt
