I am doing Beauty and the Beast, Jr. with my middle school group this year and we have no budget for costumes. Parens supply and make costumes with my guidance. I would love to see some pictures from those of you who have not rented or bought costumes. That is just not an option for us.

Zero budget for costumes for a show like this would be tough. Out costumes were all made in house, but the cost of the fabrics alone was a couple of hundred dollars. (Planning shows well in advance, means you can take advantage of fabric sales over the course of the year). I haven't made the obligatory "slide show from the performance" yet (which I will do, and post here with the others), but you can see some pictures on our home website. http://www.kanatatheatre.com/Archive/prods/photos/201206/index.htm Note that everything was made in house, and in some cases using very creative stage craft. (Chip's cup is a large plastic flower pot from the Garden center at Walmart, suspended from shoulder straps, and covered with Fabric to match Mrs. Pots. Her "hoop skirt" is made from plastic irrigation tubing from Lowes. Mme. Del La Grande Bouche? PVC piping with fabric, though careful cardboard construction would probably do). Wishing you the best for your production!

While there is no official budget - we can't afford to rent or buy, the parents are responsible for the costumes - they know this going in and I have to say I have never been disappointed. I will try to post some pictures from last year's Alice in Wonderland, Jr. For simple costumes the parents made I was very impressed. I'm looking for ideas to help them. Our show is very low budget - I have parent volunteers who donate and make our sets, too. I am the director, producer, choreographer, etc, etc, etc.
