I was wondering if this article had any truth to it. http://www.playbill.com/news/article/186640-Disney-Will-Release-Adaptati... Also, if it is true that Lion King Jr. will be released, will it only be released to schools? I am the director of the Amarillo Little Theatre Academy and have had great success with many shows you offer such as "Children of Eden", "Little Mermaid Jr.", and "Shrek". The Lion King Jr. would be a great show for us to tackle next. Also if this is true, when will applications be offered? Thank you for any help you may be able to offer!

Hey Cindy,
In the article it mentioned that the show would "be exclusively available to accredited middle and elementary schools." Does this mean that a community theatre organization would be able to get the rights to "Lion King," or would there be a waiting period where schools get it first? Thanks for your help!

Hey Matt, You are accurate that Lion King JR and Lion King KIDS will first be available exclusivley to accredited elementary and middle schools. The "big reveal" will be at the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta January 2015. Materials will be available to order at that time, but not before. No word on when it will become available to community theaters. May have even more clarification soon and will be happy to share that!

Clarification is here sooner than I had hoped! The good news is that our good friends at Disney Theatricals have developed "The Lion King Experience", an educational curriculum to accompany the showkit and launch in the classroom. Schools will have the privilege to experience these materials organically in their classroom/school setting. Community theaters will of course have these available one year after the initial release. Disney knows demand will be high, so controlling this release allows the educational piece to align with the goals of the title as well as coinciding with tours etc. Lots to look forward to!
