On December 17th in 1998, Parade opened at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center. Telling the true story of the wrongful conviction and lynching of Leo Frank in 1915, the show proceeded to win Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score for authors Alfred Uhry and Jason Robert Brown, respectively.

Although Parade had a brief run on Broadway, it has continued to gain recognition for its fearlessness towards addressing the subjects of bigotry and anti-Semitism. 20 years later, this very fearlessness has made Parade painfully relevant to this very day.

"Parade is a story of love coming to life in a world ripped apart by prejudice," says Uhry. "I know it's a true story because it involved my family before I was born. It seems to speak to more people now than it did when it premiered twenty years ago. I am both delighted by this and saddened by the cause."
