(STEPMOTHER and the STEPSISTERS rush to the window to try to see what's going on.)

TOWN CRIER 2

By royal proclamation, the King declares a royal ball tonight!

TOWN CRIER 3

All unmarried young ladies of the kingdom are invited to attend and meet Prince Charming!

TOWN CRIER 4

And that means all the young ladies

(The TOWN CRIERS exit.)

(EVERYBODY gathers around them, except for the STEPSISTERS.)

TOWN CRIER 2

The royal ball is about to begin!

TOWN CRIER 3

Will all of the eligible young ladies please...

(The TOWN CRIERS stare at the STEPSISTERS.)

TOWN CRIER 4

... get off the ground and step inside!

(STEPMOTHER yanks the STEPSISTERS up by their hair, brushes them off, and shoves them inside. The HERALD appears.)
