Jake Brunger

Jake Brunger grew up in Nottingham and now lives in London. He is currently writing a 60 minute pilot for BBC1 called WE ARE FAMILY - as part of the 2016/17 BBC TV Drama Writers' Programme - as well as developing an original six-part series for Warner Brohers' TV company Wall to Wall. He has two feature films in development; one with BFI Best Newcomer nominees Muireann Price & Jack Fishburn and another producer Rajita Shah for Miraj Films.

His recent stage work includes the musical adaptation of Sue Townsend's THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE at Leicester Curve and PRODIGY at St James Theatre, an original new musical produced by National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT). Both of these are with his long term collaborator Pippa Cleary. His original stage play FOUR PLAY - first seen at the Old Vic New Voices Festical at the Old VIc Theatre in June 2015 starring Jeremy Irvine and Richard Madden - recently completed a sell-out four week run at Theatre 503 in March 2016 and is published by Nick Hern Books.

Last year, Jake's new adaptation of TREASURE ISLAND ran for six weeks at Singapore Repertory Theatre and the UK premiere of his adaptation of RED RIDING HOOD, produced by Paul Taylor Mills, was the 2015/16 Christmas show at the Pleasance Theatre and successfully toured the Middle East in April 2016, with the Spanish-language premiere opening in Mexico City in Winter 2015. His stage dapatation of ADRIAN MOLE was nominated for the 2015 UK Theatre Award for Best Show for Children and Young People and TREASURE ISLAND was nominated for Best Show for the Young at the Singapore Life Theatre Awards.

Jake was Associate Director on BARKING IN ESSEX (West End) starring Lee Evans and Sheila Hancock and Assistant Director on CALENDAR GIRLS (UK Tour and West End) and DEATHTRAP starring Simon Russell Beale (West End). He was a workshop assistant in London on Dame Edna's ALL ABOUT ME (Broadway). Jake read Drama at Bristol Univeristy. He is a graduate of the Royal Court Theatre's Supergroup of writers and worked for two years developing new work as Literary Associate for David Pugh Ltd (producers of GOD OF CARNAGE, ART and BRIEF ENCOUNTER). He is represented by Harriet Pennington Legh at Troika and a member of Mercury Musicals Development (MMD). Jake is an associate Artist of Leicester Curve.
