Dean Murphy

Dean has written, produced and/or directed over 30 feature film, television, and theatre productions.

By age 22, Dean had two features to his name and moved to LA to develop projects with producer George Folsey Jr (Trading Places, Coming to America). Dean returned to Australia for his third movie and became a founding member of Instinct Entertainment, going on to produce ‘Till Human Voices Wake Us’ starring Guy Pearce and Helena Bonham Carter and co - writing and directing the Paul Hogan, Pete Postlethwaite, Michael Caton feature ‘Strange Bedfellows’ (the highest grossing Australian film of 2004). He produced the US set thriller ‘Torn’, and executive produced the feature documentary ‘Salute’. In 2009 Dean direct ed the Paul Hogan, Shane Jacobson feature ‘Charlie & Boots’, and co - wrote the animated feature, ‘Little Johnny’. In 2012 Dean directed the top rating ABC telemovie, ‘Cliffy’, the ABC documentary ‘Hanging with Hoges’ and started producing live theatre incl uding ‘Mother & Son’ starring Noeline Brown and Shane Jacobson and ‘An Evening with Hoges’ starring Aussie Icon, Paul Hogan. In 2015 Dean directed the ABC/Opera Australia project ‘The Divorce’ starring Marina Prior, Lisa McCune, Hugh Sheridan and Kate Miller-Heidke and followed this up with the concert feature ‘That’s Not My Dog, he then teamed up with John Cleese, Chevy Chase, Paul Hogan and Olivia Newton John on his 12th feature.
