8 MTI Shows on List of Most Produced High School Shows in the Country
Every year, the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) releases the results of its annual Play Survey. Among the data released, the survey includes the top ten most-produced musicals and plays in high schools in the United States for the past academic year.
For the 2019-2020 school year, we are overjoyed to announce that 7 of the top full-length musicals produced by US high schools are represented by MTI, and one play represented by MTI is ranked number 4 among the most-produced full-length plays in US high schools. Over 3,000 high schools across the country participated in the survey.
Full-Length MTI Musicals in the Top Ten

- Disney's Beauty and the Beast (music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, book by Linda Woolverton)
- Into the Woods (music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine)
- Disney's The Little Mermaid (music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, book by Doug Wright)
- Seussical (music and book by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics and book by Lynn Ahrens)
- Little Shop of Horrors (music by Alan Menken, book and lyrics by Howard Ashman)
- Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical (book by Dennis Kelly, music by Tim Minchin)
Additionally, Peter and the Starcatcher (music by Wayne Barker, play by Rick Elice) ranked #4 among the most produced full-length plays.
