When my community theatre at a local college did Beauty and the Beast we had a wooden plank that was in the shape of a hand held mirror. Imbedded in the back were lights so when she metions the mirror it lit up and we used lighting effects to signify the mood and the score also helps that. On the other side was a painting of a dragon. Are Belle never really showed the other side of the mirror to the audinace really... The rose is much harder. Each scene when in black, we would take a few petals off of our flower.
