Hello, My elementary school has done two MTI shows-Jungle Book and Wonka KIDS version. Because our school is small, we offer it to a wider level age group-from 3rd to 8th. I'm interested in challenging our kids by doing a JR. show, but I'd like to ask which one you can recommend that has a medium level of difficultly- musically and length of script. For example, I perused the Alice JR script last year and believed it to be too difficult musically, albeit the music was very cool! Any suggestions you have would be appreciated. Thank you and hope to hear from you!

I 100% endorse "Dear Edwina Jr.". The structure of the show makes it perfect for a "class" environment, where there are LOTS of small roles to share around. The staging requirements can be minimal or more advance, depending on the skills/needs of your production crew. The vignette nature of the production, makes it easy to break upinto smaller groups to rehearse their own dance/songs etc. Obligatory self-promoting video link. Simple, effective, and the kids still sing the songs three years later.

Hi John! You are approaching these shows the way we wish everyone would....KIDS length shows first!! The real difference besides difficulty is the length, so if your kids are ready for a 60-70 minute show. They definitely have different challenges. Schoolhouse Rock JR and Annie JR are great shows to transition with. You are right about Alice JR, and Seussical JR, Once On This Island JR, Little Mermaid JR,Pirates Of Penzance JR are musically challenging. Dear Edwina is hilarious and easy to stage and rehearse. Some others have subject matter that might not be perfect for grades 3 & 4, (HSMusical 1 & 2, Fame JR,). Request perusals of some of these and let me know what you think. If you give me ensemble sizeetc., I can be more specific.

Thanks so much, Cindy! I'm gonna look at the ones you recommended. Schoolhouse Rock sounds fun, and I'm going to check out Dear Edwina. Thanks again!
