For our production, we went high tech! We hung a small, decorative flat from the top center of the proscenium, then projected a "power point" animation onto it. The rose was always there, but every now and then, it would drop a petal or two. At the end the operator pushed a keystroke and the last petal fell - right on cue!! Easy peasy!!Thomas

We used a plastic case (like a terarium) and placed it on a table. We used magnetic strips on each petal and attached them to the center of the rose. Each petal had a fishing line which went down the rose (at back) through the table and below stage. When a petal had to fall they pulled the fish line and a petal fell, each line was marked so they knew which petal to pull.
The rose was large about 4-5" and each petal about 2" and was made of velvet material. From a distance with a fixed light it looked authentic.
