More than a global sensation, Mean Girls is a unique licensing opportunity for customers to produce a show customized for their community.

Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a queen bee without getting stung.

Adapted from Fey's hit 2004 film, Mean Girls was nominated for a staggering 12 Tony Awards. This show took Broadway by storm and has since joined the musical in-crowd. And now, so can you when you license Mean Girls!

PLEASE NOTE: Mean Girls and Mean Girls High School Version are now one show with the same set of materials. Licensees can choose to modify their production with optional, pre-approved edits included in their materials to fit the needs of their community. These pre-approved edits are the exact same ones provided for the formerly licensed High School Version. Read the note below to learn more.

Optional Script Changes for High School Version

The authors of Mean Girls have supplied a list of optional script changes. These changes are approved for any production to incorporate as needed. If you utilize any of these changes, you may bill your production as Mean Girls High School Version but are not required to do so. Note that any changes to the script or music materials other than those in the list are not allowed.

Along with these approved changes, if you order the logo pack, we will provide two versions of the official logo – the original and one with Mean Girls High School Version, for productions that choose to bill their production as such. You should utilize whichever logo best suits your production and needs.

A Note on Materials

Please note that the physical libretto and scores will read "Mean Girls High School Version" on their covers. There is not a difference in the materials from the full version and these are the libretto and scores for the full length version of the show, previously only available to be performed by younger actors. To see any changes you may implement for the High School Version, please refer to the approved changes document you will receive when licensing the show.
