Jekyll & Hyde

Jekyll & Hyde
Murder and chaos are pitted against love and virtue in this sweeping gothic musical.

The epic struggle between good and evil comes to life on stage in the musical phenomenon, Jekyll & Hyde. Based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson and featuring a thrilling score of pop rock hits from multi-Grammy- and Tony-nominated Frank Wildhorn and double-Oscar- and Grammy-winning Leslie Bricusse, Jekyll & Hyde has mesmerized audiences the world over.

An evocative tale of two men – one, a doctor, passionate and romantic; the other, a terrifying madman – and two women – one, beautiful and trusting; the other, beautiful and trusting only herself– both women in love with the same man and both unaware of his dark secret. A devoted man of science, Dr. Henry Jekyll is driven to find a chemical breakthrough that can solve some of mankind's most challenging medical dilemmas. Rebuffed by the powers that be, he decides to make himself the subject of his own experimental treatments, accidentally unleashing his inner demons along with the man that the world would come to know as Mr. Hyde.

This gothic musical is the perfect opportunity for your male and female stars to showcase their abilities. Jekyll & Hyde offers great flexibility for cast size and use of ensemble and its powerful rock score will require strong, versatile singers.

Percussion 1 and 2 specifics!

Hello!

I am music directing a production in the fall and would like to know what percussion instruments are required for both parts! An individual list for both parts would be most helpful as I am hiring musicians!

Gender Blind casting in Jekyll and Hyde
The lead and supporting characters in Jekyll and Hyde are predominantly male. We would love to cast our show gender-blind, aside from the 3 leads. Can we cast females actors in male roles but keep all aspects of the storyline intact? And would we be allowed to change pronouns (not the names) if we do end up casting females actors in male roles? Thanks!

Is there a possibility of performing the show as written in the 1994 "Concept recording"?
Looking into the possibility of getting license to perform Jekyll and Hyde the way it was in the 1994 Concept recording. I have heard that sometimes the following "substitutions" are approved. Also that the Concert version that toured from 2004-2007 was identical to the 1994 Concept Recording. Are these a possibility for anyone?: "I Need to Know", sung by Jekyll, was re-instated to the score (placed after "Lost in the Darkness"; in some productions it is in its place Reprises #1, #2 and #4 of "Façade" are generally removed; in effect "Façade (reprise #3)" becomes "Façade (reprise)" "Bring On the Men" re-instated in place of "Good 'N' Evil" "Streak of Madness" re-instated in full, and re-titled from "Obsession" "Bitch, Bitch, Bitch!", sung by the ensemble, is re-instated in some, but not all, productions (placed after "Façade") "Girls of the Night", sung by Lucy and the whores, is re-instated in some, but not all, productions (placed after "In His Eyes")
