For Your Scenes in Motunui: The village of Motunui is established with the textured, hut-like panels and lush tropical foliage you see. Arrange them wide to create the bustling community for "Where You Are," or cluster them to frame the intimate scenes with Gramma Tala and Chief Tui. The deep blue ocean backdrop is always present, constantly reminding the audience of the sea's call that Moana feels.
For the Voyage Across the Ocean: The most critical challenge of the show is staging the voyage. Our solution is built in layers. The multi-toned blue backdrop provides the epic scale of the Pacific. The rolling wave ground-rows create the illusion of movement and cleverly mask the casters of the canoe. The canoe itself, an iconic and beautifully detailed centerpiece, serves as the anchor for all the action at sea—from the storm, to the conversations with Maui, to the attack by the Kakamora.

Lalotai and Te Kā are brought to life through lighting. The deep blues and dark silhouettes of the set are the perfect canvas for the shimmering, bio-luminescent lighting of "Shiny" or the fiery reds and oranges you'll use to create the lava monster Te Kā. Our design supports your lighting, it doesn't fight against it.
