We are performing Beauty and the Beast JR and have been using iTunes so far, but it seems to be very limited as far as options go.

You have probably closed your show, based on the fact that you asked this in 2017 ;) but we always use QLab to play the tracks for our show. Its free and it works great! It's a common software in the industry.
