Thrust theatre space
Our district just opened a wonderful thrust stage in a space that will seat about 400. I will work with middle school plays and musicals in the space. I am looking for tips/resources for working on a thrust. We have either been on a large proscenium stage or a music classroom. Thanks!

First Time Theater -- Which Show?
I'm looking at starting a theater where I live. It's a big responsibility but I'm up to the task as I have always wanted to see one here. However, I'd like to know where I'm headed before I head there. I've gather some support and I want to know if we were to do a show, which MTI show would we do?I've been particularly attracted MTI's shows because: a) I'm a sucker for Disney and, b) they seem very well-put together and organized.I'm not sure how tight our budget will but from years of making costumes for some rather difficult and odd characters, I know how to work something out on a budget in that department.

FUNDRAISING for Theatre Organizations

FUNDRAISING for Theatre Organizations
Having spent the last 30 years involved in theatre, we are well aware that raising extra funds is always a HUGE need. When we began our costuming business for BEAUTY & the BEAST five years ago, we began a fundraising branch with light-up roses. With no 'up front' costs and the ability to return any unsold roses - clients are enjoying a NO RISK fundraising opportunity and making thousands of dollars. We have expanded products to include pink sequin hats for HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, red & white stovepipe hats for SEUSSICAL and light-up candles for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. But we want to do more!We would love your input..what other MTI shows would you like to see us represent AND what product (for that show) would you recommend? Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!!!

Intergenerational workshop

Intergenerational workshop
I want to develop a summer program for our church families which would be intergenerational. This would be a group of families and couples or single people. I envision having some team building activities, some skill building activities, and finally working on a one act play in which all ages could be involved. An example might be Aesop's Fables, animal stories, or fairy tales. Does anyone have suggestions for materials or activities that work well with a wide range of ages? There are a few in our community with experience, but mostly it will be a group of people with a wide range of abilities who want to learn about theater and want to have fun.I do have a theater background, but have been out of education for about 10 years and don't have access to the school materials I used before. Any suggestions for materials to order or plays that may work with this kind of group will be appreciated.

Policy for Cutting MTI Shows for Competition Purposes
What is the policy for cutting a MTI show for competition purposes? Are all shows allowed to be cut, if the rights to cut are obtained? How does one go about submitting a request to do so. Do you have to provide the exact cut when asking to do so?

Theatre as an Anti-Bullying Tool

Theatre as an Anti-Bullying Tool
Hey ShowSpacers-As this community is filled with educators, I am sure many of you have been following the tragic story of Phoebe Prince, whose untimely death has aroused a red flag for those of us who work with young people. (If you need to catch up on the headlines, click here.) Of course Phoebe's all-too-early passing is not an isolated incident. We are informed of many stories throughout each year, either through this type of media blitz or our own neighbors, of young people who endure torment in our very own schools and communities. I thoroughly believe in theatre as a teaching tool, however, as I'm sure most of you do. How can we use theatre to teach kids about bullying and its consequences? What have you guys done in your schools and communities to use a theatrical experience as a teaching tool in this sense?AlissaShowBizChicago.com
