I AM DIRECTING A COMMUNITY THEATRE PRODUCTION OF RENT IN FEBRUARY AND CXOULD USE SOME HELP. I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE IT SNOW ON STAGE. WE HAVE BAGS AND BAGS OF FAKE SNOW AVAILABLE I JUST HAVE TO GFIGURE OUT HOW TO RIG IT TO FALL EFFECTIVELY AND LOOK REAL WHILE ON STAGE. IT'S ONLY FOR TWO SEPERATE SCENES AND THE SNOW ONLY NEEDS TO FALL FOR ABOUT 2 OR THREE MINUTES. IT'S A VERY WONDERFUL EFFECT AND IT WILL BE VERY EFFECTIVE IF I CAN PULL THIS OFF CORRECTLY. i HAVE CHECKED ABOUT SNOW MACHINES AND THEY ARE TOO BIG AND LOUD AND THEIR IS NO WAY I CAN RIG THE MACHINE TO STAY UP IN THE CURTAINS ABOVE THE STAGE. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THEY DO THIS EFFECT ON BROADWAY IN RENT? PLEASE HELP ME I WANT TO BECOME MOTHER NATURE. EVERYTHINGS RENT-EMAIL ME NATHANRC28@YAHOO.COM IF YOU CAN REALLY HELP OR HAVE WORKED WITH ANY STAGE SNOW EQUIPMENT. ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED IN ADVANCE. THANKS, NATHAN ROSS CLEMONS

Fake snow.... ugh! But that's just me. I had a similar thought, but couldn't get past two issues: 1) the layers of fake snow existing "inside" the cafe during the Act I Finale, and 2) the limitations on the actors. One had to be careful to not inhale fake snow after a long note. :-) Hope it went well.
If you hang a large cloth folded in two that spans across the stage, you can put holes in various places and the snow inside. It will fall like snow if you have two people on either end slowly moving the cloth, one side up and the other side down. This is how we are doing it in my production and when I preform in the Nutcracker every year this is how they do it in the Snow scene!
