How necessary is it for the kissing? I was thinking about doing this for an elementary school grades 1-8. Is there a way to get around the kissing?

Hi Lisa! It is definitely not necessary nor age appropriate to have actual kissing in your elementary production of Music Man JR or Kids. The "head over heels moment" does need to be portrayed to tell the story however. A simple hug works OR many make this a comedic moment and have an actor run on with a foamcore word bubble with hearts or "blush" etc. on it and hold in front of Marion and Harold's embrace. Have fun with it and tell the story where everyone is comfortable.
