In 1899, Jack Kelly and the other Newsies go on strike when Pulitzer raises the newspaper prices. Katherine Plummer, a plucky reporter, writes the truth about the strike, helps the Newsies get fair wages and brings their poor working conditions to light. Medda Larkin and her Bowery Beauties give Jack the chance to pursue his painting career. A cameo by Governor Theodore Roosevelt ends the strike. Songs such as Carrying the Banner, Something to Believe In and The World Will Know bring this based-on-a-true-story musical to life!
