Opetaia Foa'i

Opetaia Foa'i is a composer, singer, guitarist, and founder of the contemporary Polynesian band, Te Vaka. He writes predominantly in his native tongues (Tokelauan, Tuvaluan, and Samoan). With Te Vaka, he has released over ten multi-award-winning albums. Film projects include The Legend of Johnny Lingo, Moana (Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards, Top Soundtrack; GRAMMY® Award nomination, Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media), and Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. Winner of Creative New Zealand Pasifika's Senior Pacific Artist Award for his contribution to Pacific music. From the onset of his career, Foa'i has been on a mission to tell the stories of his seafaring Polynesian ancestors and to share his beautiful culture with the world.
