Noël Bethea returns to Elizabeth City via Cape May NJ,where she taught Language Arts at Margaret Mace School. She holds a degree in English and a Masters in education. As a teen, Noël appeared both on the stage and orchestrated chaos behind it with productions such as Bye Bye Birdie (Ursula), and Harvey (Myrtle Mae), Music Man (stage manager), and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat (choreographer /dancer). In college, she acted in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and South Pacific. As the dance teacher at Flagler Palm Coast High School, she choreographed such shows as Pajama Game, Western Star, and numerous dance productions. She taught talented theatre in Louisiana, Acting I-IV in New Port Richey, where she produced Guys and Dolls (director/choreographer), Godspell ( director/choreographer), An evening of Fine Arts (director), and chaperoned students to state competition for the International Thespian Society. In 2002-03, she was graced with the recognition from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts. She collaborated with College of the Albemarle in staging Alexander and The Horrible No Good Very Bad Day (choreographer), and Frog and Toad (choreographer). Some of her favorite memories of the stage included traveling to Edinburg Scotland to accompanying her students to perform at the International Theatre Fringe Festival, watching her student perform on Broadway as Drew in Rock of Ages and as Peter Parker in Spiderman, and creating something out of a think! She anticipates making more memories with the talented youth of the Center Players.
