Christine Murphy

Christine was raised in Wichita, Kansas. She performed extensively in schools productions at Robinson Middle School and East High School (M'Lynn in "Steel Magnolias," Antigone in "Antigone," Kate Keller in "All My Sons," Vi Moore in "Footloose," Chris Gorman in "Rumors," Eileen in "Moon Over Buffalo," the Old Woman in "The Good Woman of Setzuan," Levi's Wife in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," vocal soloist in the original "Nights of Broadway," and dance soloist in "Oklahoma.") She also acted in shows with Wichita Children's Theatre and Dance Center ("Godspell," "Bye Bye Birdie," "L'il Abner") and Music Theatre of Wichita ("Children of Eden," "Evita"), and was represented by J.W. Productions and the Gregory Agency. In addition to acting, Christine has choreographed and costumed numerous productions. She has received professional vocal, ballet, tap and jazz training, and spent a summer studying Theatre at Cambridge University, England. Christine attended Princeton University where she performed and toured with the prestigious Triangle Club, and also acted with Theatre Intime ("All My Sons," "Hannah and Martin," and originated the role of Sophia in "Valentine at Bellevue") and the Princeton University Players ("A Chorus Line"). Through her work at the Theatre and Dance Department's costume shop, Christine helped costume over 40 productions in her time at Princeton, and was the costume designer on 3 shows: the premiere production of "Set and Drift," "The Last Five Years," "Hannah and Martin" and "All My Sons." She now lives and works in New York City, and sees the ballet and theatre as much as possible. In the past year she saw "Gypsy," "In the Heights," "Curtains," "Legally Blonde," "Equus," "August: Osage County," "Sunday in the Park with George," "Spring Awakening," "Hair," "Taking Over," "Almost: An Evening," "The Plant that Ate Dirty Socks," "What's that Smell? The Songs of Jacob Sterling" (featuring her East High classmate Matt Schock), and others.
