We stuck a lamp (LEDs) inside a cup-cake cover from the dollar store. I hand colored the top with a sharpie, to give it a spiral look. In the end it wasn't 100% "shell" like, but applying the 20' rule we thought it was safe. To my knowledge, nobody complained that the shell was the wrong shape.
