Any suggestions of how to "shorten Jo's hair" for the scene where she sells her hair in "Little Women"?

I played Jo last year and I actually cut my hair, but then used extensions during Act I until I had to have my short hair. Then for Act II I pinned my hair up in a nineteenth century style.

In the production of Little Women that I was in we used a wig that was relatively the same color hair as the girl playing Jo. After the scene where she comes in with her hair cut she kept the wig on until the scene before "Astonishing". Hope this helps :)
