JR versus Regular version

I am the director of a theatre youth group. Our group start in Sept and has a production in June. The ages range from 11-16. All have had theatre experience. I understand that the JR shows make a lot of sense for a school setting due to limited time to put together the show and also limited experience of some cast members so shorter is better. But for us, the JR version is quite short. The JR version generally seems to have options for a larger cast which I like because we have 30 youth and in some cases the content is more appropriate. So I am torn as to whether we should be going with JR versions or full versions. Are there any other differences that will help me decide which suits us better? Your guidance is much appreciated Rhonda Martin

How do I make Violet blow up?

We are doing Willie Wonka Jr in November. I have seen pictures of costumes for Violet that blow up using sumo wrestler or blowup pumpkin costumes. How do I blow them up during the show?

Who is in which scene?

Hi, I am preparing to direct Dr.Dolittle Jr. and I am just curious if anyone has insight to if it is intended that some of the core animals (Polynesia, Jip, Chee Chee) are in the circus & court room scenes? Also curious if the Circus Folk are in Court Room or not, Mr. Blossom is referred to but it could also be just written in the note that Bellows reads. Thanks for any guidance.

What show should we do?

Hi Cindy. My name is Geoff Wright from australia. Last year my school performed Beauty and the Beast Jr. It was a great success. We have a school of about 400 students and fit them all into the show. We ended up splitting the school in half and performing basicly 2 versions of the show. As we are planning to perform another musical next year i was wanting to get some advice. We are wanting to perform another disney musical but don't really want to have to split the school in half again. Would you be able to advise me what show would be best for a large number of students. I was thinking of the little mermaid or aladdin. What would your advice be. Thanks Geoff

Seeking Musical Suggestions

Hello all!I run a theatre company with children ages 7-17. My Senior Performing Ensemble, ages 11 and up, usually performs two shows each year. We just finished up Shrek and I am thinking about this winter/spring as well as next summer. They love new musicals - can't seem to get them too jazzed about older shows. Recent productions have included: Shrek, Spelling Bee, Legally Blonde, Footloose, and 13. My winter/spring production is typically a smaller cast, summer larger.Any suggestions for fun, contemporary shows with lots of opportunities for ensemble/featured parts, keeping in mind one show should be OK with a smaller # (approx. 20) and one appropriate for larger (30-35+). Some ideas I have already are Wedding Singer, Little Shop, and Addams Family. Wondering what else I can add to the list. Thanks in advance for all suggestions!

JR Perusal Return?

I noticed on the website that it says that all perusal materials including JR and Kids must be returned. Is this a new policy? In the past we have been able to keep the script and demo CD that came as the JR show perusals, that was always such a nice thing.
