In 1994 Michael Duff wrote the music for Phantom of the Country Opera, (lyrics by Cheri Coons, book by Sean Grennan and Kathy Santen) which was presented at Marriott s Lincolnshire Theatre, and nominated for the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work. Phantom of the Country Opera was published by Music Theatre International in 1996. He and Cheri Coons were then commissioned by the Joseph Jefferson Committee to create a song (Lucky To Be Doing What We Love) for the 27th Annual Joseph Jefferson Awards. The Phantom team was commissioned to try their hand at a new version of Cinderella. Ms. Cinderella premiered at Marriott s Lincolnshire Theatre in November, 1995. He recently collaborated along with Beckie Menzie, Steve Rashid and Henry Marsh to write the music for the Pegasus Players production of Female Problems, an unhelpful guide, book by Nicole Hollander, lyrics by Cheri Coons. He has just finished working with Cheri on a new musical entitled At Wit s End, which was given it s premier production at Florida Stage in Manalapan, Florida, and received a Carbonell Award for Best New Work by the South Florida Drama Critics Association. Listed in Who s Who In Entertainment, Mr. Duff has been Musical Director/Conductor for over eighty different productions, including the third national tour of Les Miserables, the national tour of Nunsense with Dody Goodman, Peter Pan with Cathy Rigby, bus and truck tours of 42nd Street, & Bob Fosse s Dancin , Associate Conductor of the national tour of Fiddler on the Roof, starring Theodore Bikel, and Musical Director for the US tour of Starlight Express. He was recently guest conductor of the Grant Park Orchestra and is presently working on a production of The Sound Of Music that is touring Asia. He performed on Broadway as the City Editor in The News, served as Musical Supervisor for the pre-Broadway production of Walls in Los Angeles, from 1981-1988 was Musical Supervisor and Staff Arranger for the Burt Reynolds Jupiter Theatre and Institute for Theatre Training, and was Resident Musical Director for Marriott s Lincolnshire Theatre from 91- 96. Michael has been privileged to have worked with such notables as Burt Reynolds, Charles Nelson Reilly, Dom Deluise, Florence Henderson, Jim Nabors, Marilyn McCoo, Marilu Henner, and Lorna Luft.
