The delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantastical tale. Featuring the enchanting songs from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder, and new songs by Leslie Bricusse (Jekyll & Hyde, Doctor Dolittle) and Anthony Newley, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka TYA is a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth.

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka TYA follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats; the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory – or suffer the consequences.

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka TYA has been condensed to one act, with the option of using a smaller cast, making this a perfect option for touring to schools, competitions or theatres with a strong educational component. Filled with imaginative design possibilities, Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka TYA will take audiences on a fantasy ride into the land of pure imagination!

Charlie vs. Willy Wonka: What's the difference?

Though both musicals based on the classic Roald Dahl story, Willy Wonka and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are two very different shows.

Willy Wonka's music and lyrics are by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley and feature many of the songs made famous from the same duo for the 1971 film, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. The stage version was adapted by Leslie Bricusse and Tim McDonald and features a slew of the recognizable tunes in its score, including "Candy Man," "Pure Imagination," "Cheer Up, Charlie," "Oompa-Loompa," and "I've Got a Golden Ticket". With 30+ Characters that can be portrayed by a swing/ensemble cast.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has a reimagined score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can) and a new book by David Greig. 18 Roles+ roles. The classic favorites of "Candy Man", "I've Got a Golden Ticket", "Oompa Loompa", and "Pure Imagination" are all featured in the show with fresh arrangements by Doug Besterman. The remaining 18 songs are brand new from Shaiman & Wittman. The book is a much closer adaptation to the original novel by Roald Dahl.
