I just finished auditions for our school's production of Aida, and I am considering a female presenting actress for the role of Zoser. However, they are pangender and they use any pronouns. Would I be in trouble with MTI if I did cast them? They are really talented, and their rendition of "Another Pyramid" was just amazing. Would be a shame if I had to cast a male and not them. Just to make it clear, I AM NOT changing the gender of the character Zoser, just wanted to know if the actor had to be strictly a male. Thank you!

You certainly can cast them in the role! The gender in the character descriptions refers to the gender of the character, not the actor. As long as lyrics and dialogue are not changed, this is fine.

However, if you do wish to propose changes to the show itself for your production, you must submit them to your licensing representative for approval.
