What if "Hamlet" had really been a musical called "Omelet"? Nick Bottom wants to write a hit play, but he is constantly being upstaged by his rival and Elizabethan Bad Boy William Shakespeare. His brother Nigel has fallen in love with Portia, but her Puritan father wants nothing to do with the Theater. Meanwhile, Nick's wife Bea wants him to settle down, but does some scheming of her own.
